It became a thing.
A 4L Powers, Activate! thing. The Super Friends were very big. Anyway...
We stayed friends through high school. We were on drill team together.
We were bitchin'....even with that hair.
I, actually, wasn't really all that bitchin', but she was. She was the only one that I knew who loved drill as much as I did.
After we graduated, we kind of went our separate ways, until, through the magic of social networking, we reconnected a few years ago.
We've been swapping stories and one-liners and 32-count bow flashback horrors ever since.
So, last weekend we got together so I could photograph her with the handsome boys she calls family.
It was amazing to see her after 24 years. I could still see the face of that young girl who was my friend all that time ago.
When she spoke, her voice was the same.
When she smiled, her face lit up just like I remember it.
And when we stood next to each other on the street and started doing the fight song drill, our husbands looked at us funny.
We,
however, did not care. It's homecoming week. Time to put the only leg
that fits into that teeny, weeny skirt and bow like you mean it....
...and if the band is behind us when do that, all the better.
Now high school teams from sea to sea
May sing of colors true,
But who has better right than we
To boast our brilliant hue?
The Newport Knights in battle fair
Since fighting days of old
Have earned the Knights' right
To wear the Newport scarlet and gold!
4L Powers, Activate! Form of...Friends 4-Ever!

Love it! And I'm glad my role in the band helped you out. =)
