From Surface To Sky
I used to think I was a city girl. I loved the mall and the crowds. Hopping in my little red car and zooming from here to there. The hustle and bustle of urban living....or suburban living as it was. I'm not sure when that stopped. I don't know what day it was or what I was doing when it happened, but somewhere there was a crossover. A transition from the hard lines and angles of glass and steel to the soft curves and breezes found along the edge of the landscape. Now, I'm certainly not saying that I'm the outdoorsy type. I've never been a real nature lover. My joke was always that camping was a hotel without room service. But there are parts of it that catch me in my lens. Force me to stop and breathe in the bewildered awe. To stand in witness to that perfect moment when Mother Earth connects with the hand of God. The power of the wave. The vibrancy of illumination. The wing of flight. The wide expanse from surface to sky, and the tiniest details hidden in the ridges of a treasure. Color and motion. Light and stillness. To capture that is a gift. To forever hold on to the grace that shows itself only when we truly open our eyes and allow it to be seen.
